So I tried to set it manually using:
DISPLAY=:0.0 xrandr --output default --mode "1440x900" -r 50
(didn't work - no signal)
and also via
DISPLAY=:0.0 xrandr --output default --mode "1440x900" -r 51
no signal either.
The strange thing is - I *KNOW* the TV supports 1440x900 - as when the
PC is booting up - and using the default ubuntu driver for the display
- the TV is showing on the OSD - HDMI 1440x900 60hz ! it does fine
until just after showing the Mythbuntu splash screen - (with the red
dots under the text) - then it loses the picture!
I just can't find a way to work out what modeline is working for this thing!
Is it a good idea - to disable the NVIDIA driver - boot into Mythbuntu
and see why/how it is supporting/displaying the 1440x900 ??
I'm running out of ideas now :(
thanks again to all of you for your help!
