Yea sounds like a power spike.  But as far as the tuners go.  I would take
the pvr-500's and put them into a windows machine just to see if they work
properly in windows.  If not, call Hauppauge, they are great at repairing
damaged pvr's.  I have sent back 2 pvr-250's that were definelty older than
2yrs and they fixed both.  Also, my first pvr-500 had 1 bad tuner in it
(recorded but like the signal was messed up), sent that back and they
repaired.
