I know I am coming late to this thread and I agree with several of the 
suggestions.  I have used media portal, sagetv, xbmc, boxee, gbpvr etc...

All I can say is myth rocks, but there is room to learn from these others.

There are things I want to see, a usable music interface is one.  Like most I 
would like to see a gallery view, available by albums, genre, artist, artist-
album.  tracks should play on ok click of song, following through the rest of 
the songs on album or list.  Basically it should add them to the current play 
queue other songs/albums can be added through menu option add to queue.
Albums can also be played through a menu option at the album/genre/artist 
level.  The play would reset the queue with the desired songs.

Then a separate view for the queue listing the songs highlighting which one is 
playing.  Then a menu option or a button to create playlist from the current 
queue.  

I would like to see a way to provide a simple way to package visualizations.  
Nothing fancy just a standard file format that can be integrated easily.  Maybe 
using a few standard libs i.e. libvisual.  Not as important the visualizations 
are decent as they are.
