Your (and others') info suggest that it's not just me then, and Ubuntu 10.04, Mythtv 0.23 and the HVR4000 don't mix well - yet.

Routing through my old posts....the system I had working with DVB-S and DVB-T with EIT data for both was;
ubuntu 9:10, myth 0.22, v4l-dvb-20091103 drivers, 1.22.82.0 firmware, and 2.6.31-14 kernel.
Front end used to freeze occasionally (going to black and white, which I also posted here about), but would always return working 20-30 seconds later.
It was around the time I upgraded to 2.6.32 kernel that I lost my EIT data, but this might have been coincidence.
It was never really right after this, and since upgrading to 10.04 it's gone from bad to worse!
