I don't know of anyway to add another command to the list without 
changing the code.

However I have customized the shutdown command so that it calls "sudo 
pm-suspend" instead of whatever the myth default was originally.

I also configured the power button on the front of the box to call 
"pm-suspend" too via the files in /etc/acpi (see man acpid).

It means there isn't a way to do a proper power down without a 
keyboard/ssh but on the upside there isn't a confusing list of choices 
for other users who have to remember the difference between Shutdown, 
Hibernate, Reboot and the power button.

(pm-suspend is from the pm-utils package in Debian, upstream is 
http://pm-utils.freedesktop.org/).
