Oh, and another thing.  At this point, on my Mythbuntu 10.4 system,
% dpkg -l | grep -i libusb
returns these lines:
ii        libusb-0.1-4                2:0.1.12-14ubuntu0.2
userspace USB programming library

  userspace USB programming library
ii        libusb-dev                  2:0.1.12-14ubuntu0.2

I'm not sure if these are appropriate or need to be replaced and if
the latter, how to do so.  So, maybe problem #3.

Again, any help would be appreciated.
