Not really sure how you would do this with synaptic.  I don't even see
any references to .23

there is definitely an option from myth control center.

I've thought about compactflash or even SSD for the front ends.
Currently just have the smallest 2.5 sata drive I could by for them at
the time.  Something like 80Gb.  Gosh I still remember the largest
drives you could buy about 80MB(ST506, RLL etc...) showing my age.

I backup all my scripts and things to the front ends.  No video or
recordings, that's done to external esata.
