[mythtv-users] Can anyone help with setting up a GP-IR02BK remote?

I recently bought a GP-IR02BK remote to use with my new mythbuntu install.
Somewhere I'd gotten the idea that it wouldn't be too difficult to set it
up, but I'm not having much luck with it.

My understanding is that recent versions of Ubuntu (which would include my
mythbuntu install) come with Lirc already included. However, I've not had
any luck getting it to run. When I try to run lircd it tells me that it
can't find the directory path it needs.

I'm not really sure how to check to see if Ubuntu has recognized the IR
transmitter I've plugged in (via usb), because I'm a relative newbie at
all of this. I've also read that there's an IR devices configuration in
MythTV, but I can't seem to find that anywhere.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some install instructions, or even
some ideas of what to do next? Again, I'm a linux newbie, so if you can
go easy on me, that would be great. That said, I've managed to get MythTV
up and running, so I can figure a lot of stuff out. I'd really like to
get this remote working, and I've seen that it CAN be made to work with
mythbuntu, but I can't figure out how.

Thanks in advance!
Todd
