In trying to get more info on this I tried using mplayer to tune in an
analog channel.
I'm not particularly familiar with mplayer, and the 6000 line man page
does not help, so it is highly likely that I gave it some useless
parameters.
In any case my attempt ended in a blank screen with no sound.

The following is what mplayer spewed out when run:

$ mplayer -v tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video0:normid=4:channel=2

For some reason it is selecting east Europe for its channel frequencies,
and PAL. I am in the USA, so the channel frequencies should be US cable,
and the format should be NTSC. How do I change this? Is there a config
file for the tuner?
