One other difference I hadn't though of: infomercials. And it turns out
they do affect legitimate program scheduling, no thanks to Comcast. Saw
these listings today:
[image: http://vps01.westbrook.com/kobdiff20100412a.png]
KOB ch. 4 (Comcast QAM), 2010-04-12
- Meet the Press, 02:10 - 03:00 (50 min.)
- Paid Programming, 03:00 - 03:30 (30 min.)
KOBDT1 ch. 4_1 (ATSC OTA)
- Meet the Press, 02:10 - 03:10 (60 min.)
- Paid Programming, 03:10 - 03:30 (20 min.)
Other than the times, all of the fields in mythconverg's tables for the Meet
the Press show in question are identical: seriesid, programid, subtitle,
description and list of guests, everything. But obviously they're not
equivalent.
Thanks again, Comcast! Not. :-/
So I guess I MUSTN'T just slap the same XLMTV ID into the records of both
channels, right? I'd be discarding important information, it seems.
Can MythTV compare durations with other known listings of otherwise
identical episodes, and do something smart about it when one's obviously
wrong like this?
I suppose I'd guess not. It's probably not a very common occurrance anyway.
Sigh,
EW
