updating a second system is less problematic than the one at home;
people are more flexible when you are doing them a favour to give them
a system that they want.

Keep it simple with a IR or bluetooth remote. id stay away from 2.5"
drives for b/e storage; in my experience laptop drives just aren't
reliable enough.
