[mythtv-users] ClearQAM (Comcast) questions

Today I finally got around to setting up the digital half of my
hvr-1600s, receiving the ClearQAM signals that Comcast provides. At
Schedules Direct I have 2 linups, one corresponding to my analog cable
service, and one for over-the-air. I figure the latter corresponds to
what Comcast is sending me, at least in terms of programming.
However what Comcast sends in ClearQAM doesn't necessarily (probably
can't) bear any relationship in terms of frequencies and channel
assignments to my OTA listings from SchedulesDirect. At this point, I
presume I'd tear apart a database dump and see what SD thinks the
channel names should look like, then use the channel editor to make what
I'm receiving from Comcast look like that. I've looked up several
things on the web about this, with varying degrees of understanding.
But my problem is something simple, like Channel 3. (NBC - WCAX here in
Vermont) I'll be getting it in analog on the NTSC sides of my cards,
and both HD and SD versions on the ATSC side. I'm under them impression
that Myth will do a fine job of telling the NTSC and ATSC apart, and let
me priortize which I'd rather use to record.
I'm not sure what happens with the digital SD vs HD. I don't have an HD
set in the house, so for the most part I'd rather not waste the space.
That would be a call for me to delete the HD versions in the channel
editor. But every now and then, there may be something that I'd like to
get in HD and save, against the great College Graduation (and end of
tuition payments for the kids) Day.
Is this possible - to separate HD and SD priorities? I think what I'd
like to do is favor digital SD, then analog, then digital HD. Then when
there's a really good show, tell it to record using HD instead.
Thanks,
Dale Pontius
