   Sure it can. You're confusing software that runs on Linux with Free
Software. They aren't necessarily the same thing. You can run an Oracle
database on Linux that can keep stuff secret from the DBA. So it't not
impossible. It would just need to be another blob like Flash or Skype
or Hulu Desktop.

   Linux is no more dangerous in this regard than Windows. MacOS might
be a little safer simply because most of it's users aren't inclined to
own or run a debugger.
