These bad characters are handled in the current CVS (and soon to be
released 0.5.57) release of XMLTV.

I don't think so - as I've always understood things, MythTV gets the
list of grabbers provided by tv_find_grabbers and populates the list
of available grabbers with the data. I'm not sure how many MythTV
users use the CVS version of XMLTV - I'd guess that most use a
packaged version of the most recent release.

Again, I don't think so. tv_find_grabbers work when grabbers are
neither configured nor have retrieved data. I've not updated to
0.23RC2 yet (will try to in the next few days/week) so I can't confirm
the behaviour you are seeing.

Cheers,
Nick
