The main reason many people go 64-bit is to utilize more than 4 GB of
addressable RAM. The AMD64 ISA has some advantages like more registers
and a few other improvements. So if code is compiled for AMD64 then
you will see some modest speed up in some applications. Some of the
transcoders can take advantage of this and get ~10-15% improvements.
But for general use you are not likely to see a noticeable difference.
