[mythtv-users] Transcode suddenly failing in 0.21

I'm having something of a MythTV emergency, and I hope someone can help.

I'm running MythDora 5.0, which has been updated to the latest MythTV
packages available for that version.

I transcode all recordings to 640 x Auto and MPEG4, in order to save space
and reduce processing needed for playback. Suddenly, just in the last couple
of weeks, transcoding has failed -- but only for certain programs broadcast
by our local PBS affiliate. Transcoding fails with either "Exit status 0" or
"Exit status 255"

In /var/log/messages, I'm seeing
