i use to think the same thing, TW in my town in upstate ny no longer
charges monthly for my box. (its still their box though)  i didnt even
realize it til i was talking to a rep last week about choices of
bundles....... they changed alot here, (plus they keep telling me analog
is never going away) now the basic service with no box is the same price
as with a box, and channels up to 1000something (pay stations excluded
of course) 61 something a month
