Did your ip change perhaps???? I had that happen once and drove me nuts for
awhile..

My IP address did not change; however, you got me looking in other places.
I was able to connect to mysql (mythconverg) directly, but I couldn't telnet
to port 3306 (connection refused) so I assumed this had something to do with
my hostname. I tried changing the database configuration when prompted by
the BE when running it from the command line and got either access denied or
could not connect while changing between actual hostname, localhost, and
static IP address. I eventually went back to a backup of my mythtv user's
mysql.txt file, restored it to the .mythtv directory, and (viola) everything
began working again. I just don't understand what would have changed this
file.

It had been a while since I had restarted the BE and, if the information in
this text file is cached during startup, perhaps somehow I inadvertantly
changed something when running through setup that didn't show up until a
restart occurred. Just continues to prove that OMKWOID when dealing with
parameters in myth (that is, one must know what one is doing).
