Replying to my own message...

I went in to mythvideo and tried updating one episode of a TV show (animaniacs).
I guess I left the frontend to quickly, as it caused the frontend to crash.  When
I restarted the frontend and entered back into mythvideo all the tv shows had genre...
I only touched one episode of one tv show and somehow that fixed everything.  Not
sure what to make of that.
