Just to say my panasonic viera (older than yours though) does not give
out edid info and i found it hard to get a working modeline.

Currently it is attached to an epia M9000 with 256M Ram, so its
pointless trying to get X going at too high a resolution anyway. But
once I get my ION box I will have to go through getting a decent
resolution.

OTOH my sony 46" lcd gives out the right info and runs at 1080p right
out of the box. No fiddling with X at all, it just worked!
