Never know till you try. I'm about that distance from the transmitters, and
had very minor glitches in my recordings on the weaker stations with an
indoor Silver Sensor. This was before the full changeover though, so it's
possible that it would be fine now. I just put a DB4 on the roof and now I
get more signal than I need. I should also note that my antenna placement in
the garage was probably not the best spot for it, but it was the most
"wife-approved" location. :) She doesn't mind the roof, but doesn't want to
look at the antenna in the house. :)

Might as well give what you have a go before spending money.

As for the cable coax, if your cable company has clear QAM, most digital
tuners can use it. The downside is that the cable companies have been known
to move channels around and such causing big problems for people that don't
want to use a box from the cable company. So I would recommend against it
unless someone in your area has had good luck with it. OTA is generally
better quality as well.
