Possibly, but that's why I specify card 1 to ALSA. If specifying card
1 works for alsamixer, shouldn't it work for MythTV too?

In MythTV:
Audio device: ALSA:default
Passthrough: ALSA:plughw:1,0

I've cycled through every combination of recognized devices in Myth.
None of them produce sound, some of them case segfaults. All of them
produce error messages complaining about being unable to open the
device "default," even in the configurations which did not name a
device called "default."
