[mythtv-users] Problems with MythTV - hd-pvr recording and viewing/editing with other programs

Hi all,

I have a DV cam that was not finalizing the DVD in it so the only 
solution I had was to connect it to my HD-PVR, and 'watch' it like a 
channel on myth tv.  I recorded the video that way.

The problem is, now that I have it in this format, I can't seem to find 
anything to edit the file.  Avidemux crashes as do Kino.  Gopchop just 
says the file has too many errors and refuses to open it.

When I watch it in myth as a recorded program it works great.  But when 
I copy it to videos and try and watch it that way I get all kinds of 
grief - likely internal viewer versus mplayer that I have set up as my 
default video viewer? 

Is there a way I can quickly convert this video to something else so I 
can edit it, etc?
