Dave,

If you look at ssds for personal use check thier performane as it  
varies wildly.  I am sure you know that :-)

Kingsley and I played with cf card adaptors and although seek is great  
raw transfer speeds were ok.

The idea like yours is for a SSS system/db drive and a large  
spindownable store drive.  Recon I could save another 5w with that and  
have less heat/noise in the bargain.
