Sorry, I'm passing along second-hand reports--I don't have a G4 or G5 here.  I recall reports that a dual G5 was able to handle HDTV decoding OK.  This may have been with 0.20, though.

If you already have the machine, just download a binary from Dave Snider and give it a go.
