If it's any encouragement, my revo sits behind the TV - the TV shields most of the noise and unless the room is *completely* silent I can't hear it. I can hear the fridge pump running in the kitchen but I can't hear the revo.

My core2duo laptop, in the same room, is a veritable hoover by comparison.
