Have you tried using VDPAU?
There was a post on the danish xmltvdk list by someone who had given up on
using 0.22 on H.264 and instead uses MythBuntu + MythTV 0.21 with some H.264
related patches. That solution has been reported to work by at least two
persons on the list.
