Could it be a permissions issue on the DVB hardware? Does the mythbackend
process have access to the right dvb device files and is it pointed to the
right device files?

One thing to try is to tell MythTV that this DVB-S adapter is for FTA
channels only. Then update the channels table to only have DVB-S FTA
channels and see if that works. That way you can rule out issues regarding
decryption.

Yesterday I received my Seca3 replacement smartcard. I can confirm that it
works with MythTV (Phoenix smartcard reader, NewCS 1.65, open-sasc-ng r63
and MythTV 0.21 fixes). This setup may seem dodgy to some, but is fully
legit and not breaking the subscription terms.
