Mythdora is a fully-working Myth system based on FC. It also has some features
unique to Mythdora, also to make some common tasks graphical and accessible
from the menu system.

I've also found trying to "help" people get Myth working is generally a bad
idea unless they are already familiar with Linux, and comfortable working
with a system. It's not for the typical Windows Weenie, and I don't think it
was ever intended to be.
As you said, there are alternatives that are probably better suited for people
who don't like lifting the hood.
