Hi Yann,
Thanks for the response. I'll have to go home and look at the screen to be
sure, but I don't think it worked. When I added the modeline to my
xorg.conf, and restarted, I saw the following in my xorg.0.log file:
****
(--) NVIDIA(0): Connected display device(s) on GeForce FX 5200 at PCI:1:0:0:
(--) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA TV Encoder (TV-0)
(--) NVIDIA(0): Philips FTV (DFP-0)
(--) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA TV Encoder (TV-0): 350.0 MHz maximum pixel clock
(--) NVIDIA(0): TV encoder: NVIDIA
(II) NVIDIA(0): Assigned Display Device: DFP-0
(WW) NVIDIA(0): No valid modes for "1024x768"; removing.
(WW) NVIDIA(0):
(WW) NVIDIA(0): Unable to validate any modes; falling back to the default
mode
(WW) NVIDIA(0): "nvidia-auto-select".
(WW) NVIDIA(0):
(II) NVIDIA(0): Validated modes:
(II) NVIDIA(0): "nvidia-auto-select"
(II) NVIDIA(0): Virtual screen size determined to be 1280 x 720
****
The modeline was added to my monitors section as follows. The commented
lines are failed attempts thus far.
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
VendorName "Unknown"
ModelName "Unknown"
# HorizSync 30.0 - 110.0
# VertRefresh 50.0 - 150.0
HorizSync 42.0 - 52.0
VertRefresh 55.0 - 65.0
# Modeline generated by http://bohne-lang.de/spec/linux/modeline/
Modeline "1024x768" 60.80 1024 1056 1128 1272 768 768 770 796
# Modeline generated by gtf from localhost
# Modeline "1024x768_60" 64.11 1024 1080 1184 1344 768 769 772 795
-HSync +Vsync
Option "DPMS"
EndSection
And I don't really know what the "NVIDIA TV Encoder (TV-0)" device is. Can
anyone tell me? I'm interested, because that device is reported as a
secondary display in the nvidia-settings gui - with a max resolution of
1024x768. Maybe I need to find some way to swap that to be my primary
display?
Thanks!
