[mythtv-users] Irman and Mythbuntu 8.04

I want to enable Irman support in Mythbuntu 8.04 (LTS), but that distro's lirc doesn't support Irman.
I recently tried to upgrade to 9.04, but had some other unwanted problems so I decided to keep my 8.04.
I need some assistance in building a proper .deb with newer versions of lirc that do support irman, without breaking the interaction with Mythbuntu Control Centre.
