[mythtv-users] mythtranscode: honorcutlist on a non-recording

I have a number of historical dvb-t recordings made on a non-mythtv
box that I'd like to edit (chop head and tail, remove commercials etc)
using myth because its editor is so much better.

I have managed to import them as "videos" as opposed to "recordings",
by dumping them in the videos directory and then opening setup / video
manager to have them indexed. After that they appeared in the listing
of "videos" and could be played.

Still, they could not be edited because there was "no seektable". I
managed to give them a seektable by running

mythtranscode --mpeg2 --buildindex --allkeys --showprogress --video
--infile blablah.mpg

and after that the editor worked, I could insert cut points etc etc.

However from the "videos" area (as opposed to the "recordings" area) I
cannot call up that menu that lets me do a transcode job in order to
actually remove the cut-out parts. I tried doing that by hand, with
the above command plus --honorcutlist, but it didn't do anything. The
wiki at

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Mythtranscode#--honorcutlist_Limitation

says that this won't work unless I specify a -c and -s instead of a
--infile. But the file does not have a channel and starttime because
it was not recorded via myth!

Is there any way I can make honorcutlist work on a non-recording video?

Alternatively, is there any way that I can import a video so that it
looks to myth like a recording, with some (fake) channel and starttime
and the correct stuff in the database, so that I can then call
mythtranscode with -c -s?

Thanks
