Have you tried using some other account? I think the mythtv user is
supposed to be a system account that is used by mythtv. You are
supposed to create a regular user and setup and start mythtv from that
account. At least that is how all my systems have been setup by the
various installers or guides that I have used over the years. I don't
remember what steps you took earlier. Have you made sure you can
connect to the database from the command line and made sure you have
the right stuff setup for database access.
