enough of it to keep up with demand (though their--Energy Conversion
Devices (ECD), Inc.'s--manufacturing process is churning out 1-mile-long
rolls of it).  They've sold something like the next 3 years of
production, already.

I think this may actually be the same thing you're talking about (it's a
thin-film PV device using amorphous Si, rather than crystalline silicon,
and can be "printed" onto any type of surface from stainless steel to
plastic membranes or even (real) shingles).  The best description of it
I could find is in a Wall Street Journal article from 2006 (

required).  The article is called, "After Decades, A Solar Pioneer Sees
Spark in Sales," just in case you happen to see that article reprinted
somewhere, like the Pittsburgh Post Gazette (
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06332/741837-28.stm ), which doesn't
require a subscription.

Basically, in Stan's words, "Other products you put on your roof. Mine
is the roof."
