My issues have cleared up since I did the clean install and didn't
restore the entire database (only recordings). As I said previously
when I did a clean install and restored the entire database, things
worked well until my first scheduled recording started (ie live tv was
fine until then). I was watching when the scheduled recording started
and the artifacts started immediately. So there must have been some
setting in mythtv that was stored in my database that kicked in when
the recording started. However, once they start they continue outside
of mythtv. I watched with 'mplayer /dev/video0' and the artifacts were
there to. So it seems that it is something with the ivtv kernel
modules. I don't really understand how the ivtv drivers interact with
mythtv, but in my case it certainly seems that a mythtv setting
initiated or caused the trouble with the ivtv driver. I have
everything up to date running the latest kernel 2.6.27-11 without
issue, since I did the clean install and didn't restore my mythtv
settings.
