Incandescent bulbs lose brightness as they age, too.  This is especially
obvious on small, clear bulbs, like car tail lamp bulbs.  Pull out one
that's been in there a few years and it has a nice film of tungsten
covering the inside of the glass, cutting down on the light output.  By
the time they burn out they look like convex mirrors.
