component inputs.  This makes sense since there is no VBI-like
standard for component video that the STB and HD-PVR can agree on.  So
in the worst case, you can have the STB render the closed captions and
they get burned into the myth recording, with no way to turn them off.

A slightly better option might be to arrange for SD recordings through
s-video and HD recordings through component, along with some magic in
the channel-changing script that turns STB caption rendering on/off.

A much better option would be for the HD-PVR to blend VBI information
from the s-video input with video from the component input.  Does
anyone in the know see this as a possibility?  Or is there some other
cool option that I've missed?
