They look pretty good if all you're focused on is the resize / scaling.  FYI,
you should be able to use -threads auto to make the script more general.  This
will probably have no effect for you since you know this script will only be
used on your dual-core machine, but if you do decide to move it or use it on
multiple machines, it may keep you from having to tailor the script for each
machine.
