One way I use to identify problems is to go to mythweb on the MBE, and 
look at the tunerstatus when all slaves with cards in them have started.
The ones not usable show up as not connected or simply dropped out, then 
looking at the log of the MBE/SBE in question usually gives me a clue to 
work with.

Normally you'll run into the card not being connected to correct 
guide-data, or the device simply not working.
