I'd never seen one of these before. Its the first useful card I've ever
seen
for PCIe 1X.

These work fine in Windows, and there are Linux drivers for them. I've not
tried them on Linux, as I have no need at the moment, but I do have one
driving my RFID board in Homeseer.
