No. American politicians and generally all other politicians are
incapable of seeing past the next election. People generally are easily
capable of doing so. And lots of people don't give a damn about the next
election. They are quite happy to drift along believing the pablum that
the MSM feeds up. And far too many are quite capable of believing crap
that a moment's reflection would reveal is impossible (cf: woman
believing that the election of Obama will result in the payment of her
mortgage!).
Politicians spend far too much time worrying about the bleaters and
whiners, especially those which the MSM anoints and swoons over. Things
like 'anthrogenic global warming' and the 'dangers' of nuclear waste
storage. These gaia-worship campaigns end up in the waste of literally
millions if not billions of dollars.
Common sense isn't.
