[mythtv-users] Upgrading from 32-bit to 64-bit and maybe a distroswitch?

I made the jump from 32 to 64 bits earlier this year...  comments 
interspersed below.

It's pretty painless all-told.  The biggest issue for me was finding a 
64-bit-compatible version of skype.  (...don't ask.  In the end, I wound up 
not using skype anyway!)  I remember adding the link for the 
64-bit-compatible version to the mythtv wiki, so you're set there.

Other than that, if I didn't tell you the box was 64 bits you probably 
wouldn't know just from using it.  It's my backend, plus house file server, 
maintenance-task-runner, and pretty much every other 'bitch job' I can think 
of throwing at it.  Runs like a champ, rock solid!

It's about as good (IMHO) as ubuntu 8 was at wireless.  Each time a new 
flavor of ubuntu rolls around, it has a readme that it fixes wireless X and 
Y, and I'll be damned if X and Y are never the problems that *I* encounter 
with wireless.

A quick check would be to boot a liveCD and see how wireless works with your 
hardware.  Nothing wasted but a bit of time, and then you'd know for sure! 
(Make sure you surf for at least a half an hour; my issues with wireless 
only crop up once my original WPA handshake times out *it seems*.)
