Depends what sources you are planning on playing back, as long as you
configure VDPAU correctly as per the wiki -
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/VDPAU, you should be OK playing back HD (1080i)
material with the Temporal x2 deinterlacer on an 8300.

I'm in the UK and using an Asus M3N78 PRO (GeForce 8300) to
record/playback BBC HD H.264 1080i @ approximately 20-25Mb/s.
