Normally, I would say you're using the opengl painter, but don't your 
system does not have opengl support.  The fact that G.A.N.T. works means 
that idea is wrong.

Second, I would say you upgraded to trunk without reading up on the 
consequences, namely that most themes (and all currently released third 
party themes) are broken on trunk.  However mailing list archives say 
you've been using trunk for at least a couple months, and have been told 
that specific issue before, so I doubt that's the case.

Those are my two thoughts, any more information you can give about the 
problem?
