[mythtv-users] Can I limit the disk space recordings use?

not really. but why would you want to?

Myth has a better mechanism for this. You can set in the settings to make
sure there is a certain amount always available. The difference between your
system files, personal files and the total capacity of the drive is what
Myth will use (minus the buffer you set above).

This means that MythTV will use more while you have fewer files on the
system, less when you have more personal files on the system and a buffer
big enough for copies of new files onto the system (before the system
compensates on its regular file clearout task.

Auto expire is used to delete older watched files, then just older files to
ensure you have enough space ( the free space must be greater than the
buffer size youve set).
