You could also try adding the nomodeset kernel line parameter, also some 
HDMI inputs only support full resolution on a single port (probably HDMI1)

I'd also comment out these two lines to:

#splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
#hiddenmenu
