[mythtv-users] No analogue sound when using HDMI input on Sony Bravia (OT)

Hi,
I get no sound through the speakers of my Bravia KDL-40W5500 when using DVI
-> HDMI 1 and PC analogue out -> analogue in on TV (3.5mm socket). Picture
is fine (great, actually).
Some notes:
1. According to the TV user manual, HDMI 1 is the port to use when you want
to combine HDMI video with the analogue audio in socket.
2. The PC analogue audio out works fine (tested using PC speakers).
3. The TV analogue audio in works fine (I connected a laptop to the TV VGA
input, switched TV input to PC, and I heard the MythTV audio fine).
I suspect that the TV is expecting audio over HDMI, in spite of what the
user manual says. The TV reports 1080p for the MythTV HDMI 1 input signal.
Is there a difference, in HDMI terms, between "consumer" HDMI video format
(e.g. from Blueray player) and PC HDMI video format, for 1920x1080 at 50, which
is what I use?
I realise this is probably a TV problem rather than a MythTV problem, but so
far Sony has not been able to help me.
Thanks for any help,
Justin.
