[mythtv-users] cancel a recording

i was in livetv and i decided i wanted to record the program
i left and went into the schedule to discover that the program was very 
long (it was the preview on BBC HD)
i only wanted the first 6-7 minutes but i could not find a way to stop 
the recording
i wanted to keep what had been recorded so far

i thought i was being really clever
i went into the recording directory and started a copy there before i 
cancelled it in mythweb
but i had forgotten that i was going to the master backend over nfs and 
so i lost it

is there a correct way to stop a recording like this?
i am running svn head
