Okay, just to close the loop on this...

I brought his server to my house and found I was still unable to tune
any channels (which I expected since I can't even tune SBS at my house
yet his house even picks up the community channels).

I swapped out the Nova 500 and put in a crappy Medion DVB-T/Analog
tuner, which presents itself as a 'Phillips TDA10046H'. It tuned in
fine to all the channels my myth server can pickup (i.e. no SBS).

I took the server back to his house and re-tuned and it got everything
fine (except for SBS???) so that is all good. I guess the Nova 500 is
just way to touchy to be used except for in the most perfect of
reception areas.

For the interested, the kernel module that was loaded to support the
DVB-T portion of the card was saa7134. To support the analog portion
of the card was saa7130/34. I was unable to tune anything on the
analog portion though.

Regards to all those that tried to help,
Whytey
