Chris,
I know my Samsung DLP has this problem, and I have read a few
problems on this list with Samsung LCDs. My nVidia 9500GT always sends
audio, even if I don't have the jumper hooked up. It doesn't bother me
because I use a coax SPDIF to my 5.1 receiver anyway.
My parents' Toshiba CRT has a menu option for HDMI or DVI audio, and it
doesn't auto-detect. I haven't checked the new Toshiba LCDs if they
still use that method.
